Listening to the news this morning, are our police and policitians that stupid that they believe they’ve solved the problem of right-wing protestors invading the streets and causing mayhem? They seem to think that because they put out warnings, paraded police and threatened with swift punishment in court that they’ve dismissed the right-wing faction and its all going to be peace and love! What a deluded bunch they are, and we’re expected to trust them and believe that they can sort out this country’s problems!! God give me strength.
Yes, its ugly and violence is never the answer to any problem, but they’ve really got to get a grip on what’s actually happening in this country at base level. Vast areas of deprivation, unemployment, lack of facilities and general ignorance will breed contempt for any establishment that proffers to be “in charge” when they see their lives getting worse.
The police need to be visible at all times, so back on the beat. Nobody under the age of 25 should be permitted to join the police force, as they have no idea of life before that. They’ve probably never seen or been involved in a domestic dispute, dealt with potential suicides, had to face down someone with intent on committing a violent act. Not saying that all 25 year olds have, but they’ve got a little more life experience. They also need to be psycologically assessed, having a god complex is not a good thing for a police officer. They are there on the streets to uphold the law, protect people and property. They are not little Hitlers, deciding what’s best for everyone. They are subject to obeying the law as well. Because of the rotten apples recently found in the barrel, the public are not able to trust the police, so they have to gain the public’s trust again, and without that they are next to useless on the streets.
Politicians need to wind in their necks and actually listen to the public instead of deciding they know what’s best. Believe me you don’t. You’re living in cloud cuckoo land if you think you do. How many of you have had a minimum wage job or had to live on benefits? How many of you have been out of work for more than 6 months? How many of you have been evicted because you can’t afford the increase in rent, or the landlord has decided he can get more from a new tenant? How many of you have had to wait for over 2 years for a hospital appointment or operation? How many of you are really listening? I can tell you – NONE. Not one of you can give an affirmative answer to any of the above, so how can you profess to understand? You don’t, simple as that.
Start questioning decisions made by your police, your local policitian, your local councillors. You pay their wages from your taxes, you are almost obliged to question their actions. So don’t be shy, question, question, question. The best way often is to use the Freedom of Information Act. Quote that when you ask questions, and unless it comes under the official secrets, they have no choice but to answer. Go for it. Don’t you be deluded into thinking you can’t do anything.
