Grumpy Old Lady – the start

Introduction to me – I’m female (definitely female, I have a uterus) 67 years of age, a Baby Boomer, and yes I probably did have the best years of growing up with no computers, mobile phones, no pressure from “social” media. I call it “unsociable” media, because it doesn’t make people feel good about themselves, just the opposite. So yes I did grow up in a good era. The only pressure I had was to get good results in my O Levels and a good job. I’m married, have been for 47 years, I was a child bride!!! Not really, I was nearly 20, and I have two sons, 45 and 43 respectively. One lives in Australia and we try to visit, but it gets more and more expensive, especially since Covid. What a good excuse for every corporate company to put up their costs. You’ll notice that they never come down regardless of inflation or how well they’re doing.

Anyway, the older I get the more disillusioned I am with the world. Every part of living is costed, and I mean in monetary terms, not emotional, spiritual or even time wise. The world has got greedy from big corporations and governments to the lazy bastards who sit on their arses and expect everyone else to pay for their existence. We all know someone in that category. Look up and down your street and they’ll be one family that stands out. Their gardens are full of old car parts, the windows are filthy and the kids run wild, although they have the largest television available on the market. Parents usually smoke and know every benefit they can claim. They’ll plead sickness so they don’t have to work, yet when they think no one is watching, they’ll be climbing ladders, running to catch a bus or having loud unsocial parties, just to piss off the neighbours. There will be nothing wrong with them except in the labour years with Tony Blair, they were told they didn’t have to worry because the government will look out for them. Oh and didn’t they. He created a whole subculture of ingrates that breed in vast numbers and expect tax payers to feed them.

So now we have another labour government. Don’t get me wrong I wanted the conservatives out as much as anyone. The elitist’s only governing for the benefit of the elitists. We need a whole new system. We need to take politics out of governing this country. We need to pick our government like we pick our juries. Educated people, regardless of colour, religion, sex or political stance. We need them to be our government for a minimum of 6 years. They can be guided by civil servants regarding the legalities but nothing else. Civil servants should have no political agenda. As a government they will be expected to do the best for their country because they will have to live with their decisions once they are finished. These people should come from industry, not precious lawyers, PR people, stockbrokers, all of whom only work for monetary gain. We need people who have built companies from the bottom to the top, had to deal with the laws of the land regarding employment, tax etc. We need people who understand what it’s like to be on the edge of financial ruin and survive it. What we actually have is wishy-washy has-beens who can’t make it in the real world so go into politics.

Well that’s the start. More grumpy old lady views coming soon.
